Mangaluru, Dec 1: Relating to the murder of Mescom engineer, Jagadeesh, residing at Chandika Extension, Kadri Kambla Road, Bijai here, the third additional district and sessions court here has exonerated both Siddappa alias Siddu (32) from Belagavi and Murtuza Khadri (34) from Davanagere, of the charge of murder levelled against
them.

The accused reportedly entered the residence of Jagadeesh after he and his wife retired to bed on the night of September 20, 2014 by breaking open the door. With the purpose of robbing the gold ornaments, they entered the bedroom of the couple and sliced the throat of Jagadeesh. His wife, Bharati, who woke, raised an alarm, at which the accused fled. Immediately Bharati called Dr Ganapati Bhat residing nearby. Dr Ganapati Bhat and Dr Ashok who rushed to the spot, found that Jagadeesh had died by then. A police complaint was filed and finger print experts and sniffer dogs had surveyed the spot of crime.

Urva police who registered the case arrested the accused when they were in KSRTC bus stand on the basis of suspicion. During the questioning, they confessed to the crime. Bharati identified the culprits as she had seen them. Kadri police inspector had filed charge sheet in the court.

The prosecution claimed that both the accused, who were coolies, had taken to theft at nigh for making extra money.

Judge of the third district and sessions court, Muraleedhar Pai, who conducted hearing the case, came to the conclusion that the prosecution had failed to prove the charges against the accused. He therefore, exonerated the accused. Advocates, Venukumar and Yuvaraj K Ameen, had appeared in the case on behalf of the accused.
