Udupi, Dec 3: The grand finale of the singing reality show, Voice of Udupi season- 6 saw Samarth from Ujire emerging as the winner and lifting the titled trophy. Lisha bagged the ‘audience choice’ trophy.
The singing reality show was organised by Karavali Sangeetha Kalavidhara Okkoota (R) Dakshina Kannada and Udupi unit , held on Saturday, December 1 evening at Town hall, Ajjarkad, Udupi.
There were seven top finalists in the music battle namely Vinush Bharadwaj, Dinakar, Megha Pai, Lisha, Greeshma Kateel, Sourabh and Samarthan.
Megha Pai and Vinush Bharadwaj stood second and third respectively in the scores. Vinush Bharadwaj was the second choice of the audience poll.
All five winners received the attractive title trophy, cash prize and certificate from the guest of honour.
Earlier, Samarth participated in many singing reality shows. He sang the song ‘Aata Hudugatao’ from the movie Hatavadi composed by Ravichandran. It really touched the audience and judges as well.
Vinush Bharadwaj impressed the audience by singing ‘Shankara Bharanam’. There was only one round at finale.
The show was judged by many jury members namely, Pushkal Kumar, Muralidhar Kamath, Mohandas, Dinesh Kinnigoli, Meera Kamath, Ranjan Das, Satish Bannanje and Ravindra Prabhu.
Before starting the programme, the Okkoota members paid tribute to Shiroor Lakshmivara Theertha and conducted a minute of silent prayer.
Jagadish Shetty, president, Karavali Sangeetha Kalavidara Okkoota inaugurated the show by lighting the lamp accompanied by the other guests.
“The Okkoota is a role model in terms of discipline and performances. The members take active part in pro-social activities and services like helping poor families. Music is a gift of God. There are no bearers of caste and religion,” said Jagadish Shetty.
Fr Mahesh D'Souza, principal, Don't Bosco CBSC School Shirva remembered the contribution of Shiroor Swamiji. “He was a man who encouraged all the artists. It is our duty to pay a tribute to him. All can understand the language of music. Rhythm and voice will give peace to one’s mind. Let’s all support music,” he said.
Suresh Shetty Gurme, business and social worker Kaup said, “Music is an achievement. We must dedicate songs to Goddess. Only then our talent is complete. Anybody can earn money but not all have such talents.”
“Music is medicine to mind, curing mental and physical illness. Listening to music is equal to performing Yoga,” said Nagraj an advocate.
S T Karkera, former general manager and advisor Mangaluru Special economic zone (Lion district Cabinet secretary 317C) said, “I have been worked in Okkoota. There is an artist within everyone. If a person gets an opportunity he can achieve something. There are many emerging talents that are recognized through this stage.”
Jayakar Shetty Indrali, general manager of Badagubettu Credit Cooperative Society also spoke on the occasion.
Prakash Kotian, owner Maruthi Furniture and industries Udyavar Udupi, Ranjana Shridhar Shetty, Lion Lady Council Advisor district 317C, Ishwar Chitpady, Mohan,
Radhakrishna Bhat, president, Sangeetha Kalavidhara Okkoota Udupi, Sharath Uchila, Nirupama Prasad, Diwakar Shetty Kodavoor, Muralidhar Bhat among others were present throughout the programme.
The special guest performers Aira Acharya is background singer of KGM film, Vijayalakshmi, Thanushraj, Likith Umesh Karkera, Pallavi, Swastik, Nisha Fernandes and Master Pratham enthralled the audience by variety of music.
Dr Mohandas Shetty, physician at Adarsh hospital and keyboard player, Dr Satish Poojary, physician at Sri Matha Hospital Kundapur and singer, Ramesh K Puttur, keyboard player Puttur and Vaman Salian, singer and Congo player, Padubidri were felicitated for their remarkable achievements.
The other finalists also sang really well. Dinakar sang ‘Re Re Bhajarangi’, Megha Pai sang ‘Kuhu Bole Koyaliya,’ Lisha sang ‘Shankar Shiva Shankari,’ Greeshma Kateel sang ‘Jumka Girare; and Sourabh sang ‘Ye Zindagi Gale Lagale.’
Title winner Samarth told Daijiworld media, “I did not expected winning this title award in my audition round. I am very happy because I have shared screen with famous singers in music concert. I like singing and I will build future in music field. I will continue my effort in this same way. I thank all who supported me to reach this level.”
The background instrumentalists did magic on stage. The artists namely Bhaskar Basrur and Arun Havanje played keyboard, Vaman Bailoor played drums, Acharya played rhythm pad, Roshan played bass guitar, Prajwal Acharya Bannanje was on Congo drum, Veekshith Kodancha played Tabla, Varun Rao played flute and Karan was on lead guitar.
Naveenkoppa, secretary KSKO compered the stage programme and the show was hosted by Prem John.
The Okkoota offered a smart phone for lucky 'Audience’. Gopal Shetty won the lucky number.
