Mangaluru, Dec 3: It was a beautiful sight as crowds gathered at Nehru Maidan here on Sunday, December 2 to witness '2018-Year-Old Fact in a Mobile Act' by White Doves NGO. The act, written by Bannu Fernandes, on the theme ‘Believe’, was on the life of St Thomas.

Senior civil judge of district legal services authority Mallana Gowda said, “I have been observing White Doves since several years. They have been doing tremendous work under the leadership of Corrine Rasquinha.

“In newspapers, we see that Mangaluru is getting a bad name due to communal violence. In reality, Mangaluru is the place where people of all religions live in peace and harmony,” he said.

Senior accountant Sunil Baliga said, “If a university has to be made for humanity, then it should be named after White Doves.”

The mobile act was also staged at Most Holy Redeemer Church ground Beltangady on November 30 and Mount Rosary Church, Santhekatte on December 1.

The mobile shows will be performed on trailer trucks and the stage will measure over 185 feet. The troupe consists of 150 members of actors, singers, musicians, dancers, technical and stage managers. The show will be two hours duration; this being a popular show in and around Mangaluru has completed over 300 shows since the past 24 years to date. The group is a blend of people from all walks of life coming together to promote peace and harmony and brother hood by showcasing their varied talents.

About White Doves

White Doves an NGO founded by Corrine Rasquinha in the early 1990 with the motto to reach out to the least, last and lost has been running homes for the destitute and mentally challenged since 19 years. Over 600 destitute picked up from the streets of Mangaluru have been rehabilitated and over 195 have been reached back to their homes all over India including Nepal after a total recovery from their mental illness. Presently there are 150 men, women and children residing in the three homes run by the White Doves at Matadakani, Kulshekar and Jail Road in Mangaluru.

This is the only home of its kind in Mangaluru where the destitute is picked from the streets and nursed back to normalcy and having a license from the district administration to take care of psychiatric destitute. In addition the White Doves feeds over a 150 to 200 hungry mouths on the streets on daily basis. The other works of White Doves being building homes for homeless, educating the poor, providing rations to the marginalized of society and providing succour to the poor patients.
