Margao, Dec 6 (TOI): Margao town police will soon issue a lookout circular against Ignatius Coutinho, 50, against whom an offence has been booked for raping a 14-year old girl.

Coutinho, a resident of Sirlim, Dramapur, had already left for overseas where he is employed, before the offence was registered. The man had come down to Goa recently and that was when he established contact with the survivor and later raped her multiple times.

Police sources said the services of Interpol may be requisitioned to nab the accused. The crime came to light on Tuesday, police sources said, after the survivor disclosed it to her teacher, who, in turn, informed a women’s voluntary organisation leading to a police complaint. Coutinho has been booked under Section 376 (rape) of the Indian Penal Code and Section 8 of the Goa Children’s Act.

Police sources said that the survivor’s statement will be recorded before a magistrate under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.
