Cabinet clears National Mission on Interdisciplinary Cyber-Physical Systems

New Delhi, Dec 7 (IANS): The Union Cabinet on Thursday approved the launch of the National Mission on Interdisciplinary Cyber-Physical Systems (NM-ICPS) to address ever-increasing technological requirements of the society.

The mission to be implemented by the Science and Technology Department, at a total outlay of Rs 3,660 crore for a period of five years, would take into account the international trends and road maps of leading countries for the next generation technologies, an official statement said.

It said the implementation of the mission would bring cyber-physical systems and associated technologies within reach of the country and would adopt them to address India-specific national and regional issues.

It would also produce next generation skilled manpower in cyber-physical systems, give impetus to advance research, catalyse translational research, and accelerate entrepreneurship and startup ecosystem development, it added.

"It would also place India at par with other advanced countries and derive several direct and indirect benefits," an official said.
