Youth gunned down in Delhi over bike brushing car

New Delhi, Dec 11 (IANS): A 21-year-old youth was on Monday gunned down by two unknown attackers after his motorcycle brushed their car in the national capital, a police officer said.

The incident occurred around 1.00 a.m when the deceased, identified as Yogesh, came out of a departmental store in east Delhi's Mayur Vihar Phase-I after buying a water bottle for his brother undergoing treatment in a local hospital.

"When Yogesh, accompanied by his friend, was parking his bike outside the departmental store, it accidentally brushed a Hyundai I-20 car. Infuriated over this, the two accused who were occupants of the car, started abusing Yogesh. They later indulged in a fight," Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Pankaj Singh told IANS.

"During the fight, one of the accused whipped out a pistol from the car's dashboard and fired at least five rounds at Yogesh, and then they fled the spot. The victim's friend informed the police, who took him to Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries," Singh said.

The entire crime was captured in the CCTVs installed outside the departmental store. Two attackers are seen on the spot but theere could be more, the officer added.

"A resident of Chilla village, Yogesh had gone to deliver food for his brother in the hospital, after which he went to take a water bottle when the incident took place," he added.
