Udupi: President’s visit on Dec 27 - shops to remain closed

Udupi, Dec 20: President of India Ram Nath Kovind is scheduled to arrive in Udupi district on December 27. He will visit Circuit House and Sri Krishna Math.

As part of the security, deputy commissioner Priyanka Mary Francis has ordered to close all the shops and commercial establishments from near the gate of Udupi Sanskrit College, around Car Street and Rajangana, on December 27 from 6 am till 4 pm.

She has also restricted public visits to Sri Krishna Math that day from 6 am till 3 pm.

Chief minister H D Kumaraswamy is also scheduled to visit the city.

    With due respect we understand security reasons for President visit. But why punish Shops & Commercial business? Why should they suffer a day's loss, when this is Christmas / New Year Season for them to make some Business. Also Udupi temple is closed for general public? Come on people, this seems un-called for.!!
    They are Politicians, elected by the people, for the people. Why should a common man be refrained from doing his daily routine?

    These politicians better stay in New Delhi. They make visits and disrupt the normalcy of that place totally. The bandh will cost a lot in terms of business and daily acitivities of people living there. The people have to raise concerns and raise it loud so these people hear it well.

    This is too much. Why trouble the poor shopkeepers and the devotees?
    He is our President and I am sure nobody in our undivided Dakshina Kannada is going to harm him in any way.

    Welcome to our president to Udupi & Mangalore (Karnataka)
    Fine Shops have to be closed for VIP visit ,,But for what?
    I understand he is our presisdent yes we should respect
    Who will pay for the days loss?
    Is the president going to be there from 6AM to 4PM ?
    SO lets the shops open & they can close for 3Hrs.
    Why Stop Public vsit to temples?
    Let the devotees come & pray at their convenience ...What about the daily visiters
    Keep separate route for presidents to vist the garbha guddi or stop the visitors when the president lands in Udupi. 1-2 Hrs before
    While visiting Gods place everyone are same..
    They didn't allow Our former president Late Gyani Jail Singh to enter Kerala temple without wearing a Panchey...
    There is no need to make such a big security as our Karnataka people are very respective & our president is safe ...
