Modi now implementing Congress suggestion on GST: Rahul

New Delhi, Dec 20 (IANS): Calling the Goods and Services Tax (GST) "Gabbar Singh Tax" again, Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Thursday said his party has "jolted" Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the issue and Modi now wants to implement what the Congress had suggested earlier.

"The Congress has finally jolted Narendraji from his deep slumber on Gabbar Singh Tax. Though still drowsy, he now wants to implement what he had earlier called the Congress Party's 'Grand Stupid Thought'. Better late then never Narendraji!," Gandhi tweeted.

His remarks came two days after Modi said at an event in Mumbai that the government was aiming to bring 99 per cent of items at or below 18 per cent GST slab.

    when you call GST as gabbar sing tax you are making fun of your own government Rahul . GST was originally congress plan.

    BJP oppose single tax on all products.. tax on luxury and necessity can’t be the same... may be you can funds from abroad to pay taxes .. middle class and lower middle class people don’t get these funds... they need to work hard... if you have issues with GST speak to congress party in Karnataka and ask them to raise their voice in GST council... stop barking like rahul Gandhi and bar dancer

    Modi has reduced GST not to oblige you and in public interest but to appease general public and influence on his electoral success in coming elections. Nothing else to offer. Even fuel price will most probably come down in coming days.
    Mr. Modi plays is cards very cautiously to ensure that his efforts will not go worthless.
    What you will promise in coming elections.?
