Udupi, Dec 21: "Saints and religious scholars have asked Hindus all over India to undertake religious rituals for a period of nine days beginning on Gita Jayanti day, December 18, in order to invoke divine blessings for early construction of a temple dedicated to Lord Ram at Ayodhya. As per their advice, religious rituals backed by the determined devotion to achieve the objective as above are being held in all the villages, taluks and districts falling under Mangaluru division of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP)," said VHP divisional secretary, Sharan Pumpwell.
He requested all the individuals following Hindu faith to complete a minimum of 108 chanting of the hymn, 'Sri Ram Jaya Ram Jaya Jaya Ram' every day for nine days. He wanted Hindus to come together in religious places like temples and Bhajana Mandirs in all the cities, villages, extensions etc everyday and sing Bhajans for an hour on a daily basis besides chanting Hanuman Chalisa, Geeta, Lalita Sahasranama, Vishnu Sahasranama etc. At the taluk and district headquarters, large scale community oblations, ceremonial bath (Abhisheka) and chanting should also be undertaken as per the wishes of the religious leaders, he explained.
Bajrang Dal provincial convener, Sunil K R, noted that Karnataka chief minister, H D Kumaraswamy, is a theist who visits temples and offers pujas. "The chief minister has been visiting various temples and other establishments to offer prayers for retaining his power. We invite him to visit Datta Peeta on Datta Jayanti occasion and pay respects to Datta Paduke, and we hereby extend him this invitation," he said.
He added that about 50,000 Datta devotees who have worn Datta Mala would be taking part in Datta Jayanti. A huge procession and various religious programmes will be held on the occasion. "We demand provision for offering puja thrice every day at Datta Peeta, priest should be appointed, and Datta Peeta should be handed over to Hindus," he demanded.
VHP district secretary, Pramod Mandarti, district convener, Dinesh Mendon, and organizing secretary, Kumar Sindhuwala were present at the press meet.
