WCD to run conditional cash transfer in UP, Rajasthan on pilot basis


New Delhi, Dec 21 (IANS): The Ministry of Women and Child Development (WCD) on Friday said it has decided that conditional cash transfer scheme will be carried out on a pilot basis in lieu of take-home ration.

According to the ministry, the pilot run will be carried out in a few blocks of two districts each in Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan which was decided based on the direction of National Council on India's Nutrition Challenges headed by Dr. Rajiv Kumar, Vice Chairman, NITI Aayog.

"A Committee has been constituted under the Chairmanship of Dr Vinod K. Paul, Member, Health and Nutrition, NITI Aayog for deciding the parameters and operational modalities for Conditional Cash Transfer", it said.

The members of the Committee are from Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Department of Financial Services, Department of Food and Public Distribution, NITI Aayog, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, UNICEF, BMGF, DIMAGI and others.
