Mangaluru, Dec 27: Team Modi' which is all geared up to organise Yakshagana 'Sri Devi Mahatme' by Kateel Sri Durgaparameshwari Prasaditha Yakshagana Mandali on December 29 at Mannagudda, with an aim to see Narendra Modi become Prime Minister again, has run into controversy.

Netizens on social media have slammed the event. “While one has to wait for years to perform Yakshagana of Kateel mela, how is it that Team Modi got an opportunity for the performance on December 29?,” said some people.

“Yakshagana in one person’s name is being allotted to somebody else. Yakshagana is not permitted to devotees as per turns according to their turns,” others alleged.

Team Modi leader Naresh Shenoy however clarified that they had booked for Yakshagana in Kateel mela under tatkal quota and were waiting for their turn. “A gentleman had phoned from Kateel saying that there is a slot for Yakshagana on December 29 if we are ready. We had consented. Maharudrayaga was held recently in Bantwal. A poornahuti was offered in the name of Modi’s star.”
