Bengaluru, Dec 28: Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials conducted simultaneous raids all across the state during the early morning hours on Friday December 28. The raids, which were conducted in the city as well as Chintamani, Mysuru, Udupi and other places, targeted 17 spots. The raids were conducted based on information about government officials who allegedly have amassed assets disproportionate to their known sources of income.
In the city, places raided including two places each in Basaveshwaranagar and Sahakaranagar. Houses and offices of five officials were raided and detailed scrutiny was conducted.
The officials raided included R Sridhar, official of cooperative bank at Belur, Hassan district, assistant director of planning commission, Besattappa, additional director of agriculture at Davanagere, Hamsaveni, D Manjunathayya of district teachers training centre Mangaluru, and junior engineer in Mysuru Urban Development Authority, K Mani.
During the scrutiny of documents after raiding the house of Hamsaveni at Davanagere, the officials found a three-storied house on 75x40 feet site, 15 acres of land in Telgi, Harapanahalli taluk, a Mahindra Xylo vehicle, five two-wheelers, a tractor, and large amounts of silver and gold ornaments. The ACB officials also raided the residence of N Kumar, assistant director horticulture, Karwar at the same time. They are pooling together information. The residence of Hamsaveni's parents was also raided. The raid conducted at Davanagere was headed by deputy superintendent of police (ACB), Paramehwarappa, during the morning hours.
The residence of Manjunathayya, reader of government teachers training centre at Mangaluru at Udupi was raided. Manjunathayya had earlier functioned as municipal commissioner of Udupi municipality. He also had worked as block education officer at Udupi in the past. The raids included an apartment in 'Priyadarshini Complex' Manipal, and his house at Birur, Kadur taluk in Chikkagaluru district.
The house of Manjunathayya's brother-in-law at Channagiri near Shivamogga was raided. Western range superintendent of police of ACB, Shruti, has been supervising the scrutiny of documents. The ACB officials said that this raid was conducted based on repeated complaints about illegal accumulation of wealth.
The house property belonging to Sridhar, registrar of cooperative societies, Bengaluru, at Chintamani was raided. As there was no one in the house during the raid, they got the lock of the house opened. They also raided the residence of retired principal, Ramachandrappa, and began scrutinizing documents.

Udupi: ACB raids houses and properties of former CMC commissioner
Udupi, Dec 28: Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) raided residence of former Udupi city municipal council (CMC) commissioner Manjunathayya here on Friday, December 28.
The raid was carried out by ACB SP Shruthi on the houses and properties of the government official in Manipal, Chikkamagaluru and Shivamogga.
Manjunathayya is serving as Rader of government teachers training centre in Mangaluru.
Some documents belonging to the official have been seized by the ACB and further search is on.
The raid was carried out following several complaints from the public, it is gathered.
