Properties belonging to POs will be attached: Gurugram police chief


Gurugram, Dec 28 (IANS): The Gurugram Commissioner of Police K.K. Rao on Friday said that properties belonging to Proclaimed Offenders (POs) in Gurugram will be attached.

Rao said 782 absconding criminals have been declared POs in the district.

"The police will approach the courts under Section 83 of CrPc to attach properties belonging to people who have been POs for a long time," Rao said.

Addressing media, Rao said over 2,000 extra police personnel will be deployed at various spots along Mehrauli-Gurugram (MG) Road during New Year's celebration.

"Hooliganisms will not be tolerated. Law-abiding citizens will be provided all necessary police and other basic assistance during the celebrations," Rao said.

He said there was a decline in the number of heinous crimes registered in 2018 as compared to 2017.

There were 106 cases of murders in 2017 while the number was 77 in 2018.

The number of cases of dacoity and loot registered in 2017 were 40 and 96 respectively while in 2018 their count was 17 and 41.

Rao said over Rs 23 crore was recovered from more than 13 lakh vehicles for violating traffic rules in 2018.
