Post the ban in Noida Park, those who turned up For Friday prayers found the ground waterlogged

Noida, Dec 29 (PTI): Days after a Noida park was declared out of bounds for religious activities, only a dozen people turned up there for the Friday namaz but found parts of the ground waterlogged and the police keeping a vigil.

Early this month, the Noida Police had issued orders stating that Friday prayers cannot be held at the government plot as there was no requisite permission.

A fire tender was also deployed outside the park on Friday.

The local authorities had watered the park, which served as a venue for collective Friday namaz for the past few years and where hundreds used to turn up every week.

Those who came for the prayers but could not offer namaz expressed disappointment, claiming that it was only the last and this Friday that water was released into the park since it started hosting the prayers.

A Noida Authority official said watering in the parks is done by maintenance contractors and they decide when to do this. "The maintenance of the parks is looked after by contractors. They decide when to water it, trim the grass and clean it," the official, who did not wish to be named, told PTI.

Scores of personnel including those from Sector 58 and nearby police stations and the Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) were deployed in and around the park. A fire tender was also stationed outside it.

Adil Rashid, one of the organisers of the Friday prayers at the park since 2013, had Thursday appealed to the Muslims not to go to the park, saying permission for religious gatherings had been denied by the administration.

Cleric Noman Akhtar, who had been leading the prayers over the years, had also said he will not be joining the namaz on Friday in the park.

Mohd Mushtaq Khan, who works in a private company in adjoining Sector 59 and turned up for the namaz, said he had been coming to the park for over five years now.

"There is no other space where we can go. I come at 1.30 pm and everyone gets done offering namaz by 2 pm."

"It's only today and last Friday that the park has been watered. Otherwise, there would be arrangement of water at a corner in the park for 'wajoo'," the 33-year-old told PTI.

He said since there was no permission for holding namaz there they could not enter the park.

Meraj Ahmed, who also came for offering nanaz, said going to far off places looking for a mosque was not possible in a half-hour lunch break. He said that on Fridays he gets a one-hour break from his company considering the prayers, but even that "does not solve my problem".

"There is no provision by the companies also, so we used to come here. I don't know what will we do next Friday," Ahmed, 27, said.

    Please. Check with the Muslim leaders and govt authorities......whether they are free to build masjid.........in local bodies/ panchayats ....the permissions are with held by bjp members saying that there are temples/ gudis in all the four directions within a distance of 100. to 200. metres...for example in gangolly the panchayat is stopping. Masjid construction in spite of court orders..since the panchayat is controlled by cow dung bjp.....

    @Rajesh,

    Going to Masjid does not mean that Allah is present only in Masjids. We all are going to Musjid and offering prayers in congregation/collectively as it is the way of "Collectively" acknowledging that how weak we are before the true status of the Almighty.
    The one more reason to attend Masjids for Friday prayers is to listen to the special sermon on Fridays.

    This is what happens when you start a practise and then think its your right.
    If somebody wants to pray on a regular basis, they can hire or buy a building and do it there.

    God is omnipresent. we can pray where ever we are.. Going to Temple is just optional and can add to devotion and satisfaction, but not at all mandatory. No loud speaker to express ones devotion . If any God enforces people to do loud pryayer or gathering day after day week after weeek, with a condition that if you dont follow it, you will be punished or sent to hell - such God is insecure in my opinion.

    I dont think anyone does that without permission. Moreover Parties dont happen day after day week after week.. it is one party one permission.

    Lets not take excuse to compare it with parties that is NON repetitive ,. unlike prayers which is repetivive. Also What if tmorow hindus ask for every monday and xtians every sunday for 10-20 min in the park? lets be fair and not carried away

    @Rajesh,

    Do you really believe that Yogi government would allow Friday prayers at park (reason- no Masjids available nearby as this is not a residential area); even if the proper permission was requested in advance?. (Keeping in mind that probably there won't be any visitors in the park in the noon time of Friday prayers).

    @Rajesh,

    You said that-
    If any God enforces people to do loud pryayer or gathering day after day week after weeek, with a condition that if you dont follow it, you will be punished or sent to hell - such God is insecure in my opinion.

    Please read the following; what Allah says-
    “O My servants, if the first and the last of you, and the human and the jinn of you, were as pious as the most pious heart of anyone among you, it would not add anything to My dominion.
    O My servants, if the first and the last of you, and the human and the jinn of you, were as wicked as the most wicked heart of anyone among you, it would not decrease anything from My dominion.”

    So it's we who need to praise Allah; and Allah is not benefited from our praises; neither he is insecure/ nor has the risk to loose anything if we disobey him. But Allah orders the believers to obey him so that they get the believers are rewarded in this world and the hereafter. Praising Allah will make our hearts contentious as we are praising "The Most Praiseworthy".

    @Lavina,
    Servant does not mean anything like He gets his work done through us.
    It refers to the Obedient and Loyality towards Him. And Allah knows the best.

    @Rajesh,

    Loudspeakers are not used as a mark of devotion. It is used just for the purpose for which everybody else in this world uses it for; to make all the gathering of people hear the sound properly.
    If our environment were to be free of any other noise pollution, there would have been no use of loudspeakers.
