Bengaluru: Madhukar Shetty's death arouses suspicion – State prepared for probe

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Dec 30: The circumstances under which senior IPS officer, Dr Madhukar Shetty died, have given rise to suspicions in the minds of people. Most appalling among the reasons which have evoked this feeling are the contrasting claims about Dr Shetty contracting H1N1 infection, and again about the alleged heart problems and lung infection he suffered from as causes of his death.

Minister, D K Shivakumar, who has expressed surprise at the sudden demise of the officer, opined that a probe should be conducted into reasons behind it. MP, Shobha Karandlaje, too has demanded for an investigation into the officer's demise. Home minister, M B Patil, reacting to rumours and discussions in public forums, said that preliminary reports from the police academy and the hospital about Dr Shetty's death have been scrutinised, and no foul play is suspected. He added that detailed reports from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy Hyderabad and the hospital would be obtained and if found necessary, probe would be ordered.

An IPS officer, who did not want to be identified, suspected possibility of foul play in the officer's death. He pointed out that Dr Shetty had with him several shocking information about corrupt police and other officials and hence insisted that the probe should be primarily held about the chances of death having links with records built by the officer about these people. He wanted the probe to centre around the health condition of the officer when he was admitted into the hospital, medical treatments given to him, and said that statements of people who were present when he collapsed should be invariably obtained.

Union minister, D V Sadananda Gowda, state home minister, MB Patil, police top officers, Neelamani Raju and Sunil Kumar, and Lokayukta, Justice Vishwanath Shetty, were among those who paid their last respects to the mortal remains of the deceased IPS officer.

When D.K. Ravi and DySP Ganapathy committed suicide there was a big hue and cry by the BJP leaders .But when an upright and honest Police Officer Madhukar Shetty died no BJP leaders asked for the enquiry. The corrupt system of Indian Politics ---Mainly Corrupt politicians, corrupt govt/police officers and corrupt people and people's representatives are responsible for his sudden and untimely death. There is no room for honest officers in India in general and Karnataka in particular. Madhukar Shetty's death is a big loss to the Nation. He was one of the rarest of the rare honest officers known for their integrity.
