Bengaluru: ACB raids unearth unaccounted wealth of several government officials

Bengaluru, Dec 30: During the raids conducted at 17 spots in the state on Friday, and searches which continued on Saturday, huge amount of unaccounted wealth of government officials were unearthed by Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials.

During the raid on Sridhar, official in the office of the additional registrar of cooperative societies as well as his close relatives, ACB officials found two houses, three sites, a commercial complex, a movie theatre, 13 guntas of agricultural fields, 300 grams of gold ornaments, 22 kg silver, a car, cash amounting to Rs 1.29 lac, Rs 2.5 lac in the form of life insurance policy premiums, household goods worth Rs 7.34 lac and a locker.

The raid on deputy director in the department of agriculture, Hamsavani, the officials found a house, 11.12 acres of land. 1.056 kg gold, two kg silver, a jeep, a tractor, four two-wheelers, Rs 1.5 lac in cash and two lac rupees in the form of bank deposits, and household goods worth five lac rupees.

The assets found during the raid on D Manjunathayya of government teachers training college at Mangaluru were three houses, a site, 443 grams of gold, 983 grams silverware, two cars, a two-wheeler, 1.5 lac rupees in cash, bank deposits worth Rs 10.5 lac and household goods valued at five lac rupees.

The raid on Besattappa, assistant director of agriculture, Davanagere, two houses, a site, a commercial complex, 250 grams of gold, ten kg silver, a car, household items worth Rs 18 lac, and two lockers were found. The officials also found that the official had bought gold worth Rs 37 lac in the names of other people.

Two houses, two sites, a petrol bunk, one acre land, 378 grams of gold, 433 grams silver, a car, four two-wheelers, LIC bonds worth Rs 2.35 lac, and household items worth Rs 12.33 lac were recovered during raids on junior engineer in Mysuru Urban Development Authority, K Mani, and his close relatives.

ACB sources said that searches are continuing in respect of all the officials who were raided by it.
