CM hits back at PM Modi with fact-sheet on loan waiver remarks

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru

Bengaluru, December 30: Chief minister H D Kumaraswamy has come down heavily on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s remarks on Karnataka farmers' loan waiver by terming it “incorrect” and “unfortunate for the nation”.

The Prime Minister on Friday had described the Karnataka coalition’s farmer loan waiver scheme as “most cruel joke on farmers.”

Kumaraswamy on Sunday hit back at the PM, stating the Union government failed to come to rescue of farmers despite repeated requests. “Now, the PM with incorrect remarks is demeaning the state government for political gain,” he blamed.

“The loan waiver is our government’s commitment towards farmers of our state and the process has begun,” Kumaraswamy said lashing out at Modi for misleading the people of the nation without obtaining facts of the scheme. “It is sad that he sees the progressive scheme as a ‘joke’,” he said.

"The Prime Minister may kindly note certain updates and facts about the farmers' crop loan waiver before making such incorrect statements. The Government of Karnataka is handling honest taxpayers' public money with caution to reach true farmers. The scheme is an open book and information available online unlike any other state. It is ensured that every genuine farmer gets the benefit. All middlemen, particularly in the co-operative sector are weeded out. Other states have shown a keen interest in this system. Aadhaar and electronic authentication of land records and ration card have ensured genuine farmers get the waiver," Kumaraswamy asserted.

The CM said that 60,000 farmers have already availed the benefit of loan waiver with Rs 350 crore transferred to their accounts electronically. Next week, one lac farmers will receive Rs 400 crore. As many as 8.5 lakh farmers have given their Aadhaar, ration card and RTC details out of 21 lakh farmers in commercial crop loanees in about 10 days.

Kumaraswamy released a letter addressed to the Prime Minister with relevant documents to the media to clarify the matter:

“Hon’ble Prime Minister may kindly note the following updates and facts about the Farmers crop loan waiver before making such incorrect statements:

1. Crop Loan waiver is an open book and information available ONLINE unlike any other state.
2. Government of Karnataka is handling honest tax payers' Public Money with caution to reach true farmers.
3. It is ensured that every genuine farmer gets the benefit.
4. All middlemen, particularly in co-operative sector are weeded out.
5. Other States have shown keen interest in this system. Aadhaar and electronic authentication of land records and Ration Card has ensured genuine farmers get the waiver.
6. So far, Rs. 350 Crore has been paid to about 60,000 farmers electronically into individual accounts of the farmers.
7. Payments are being made every week electronically into farmers' loan/SB account.
8. Next week, another one lakh farmers will get about Rs. 400 Crore.
9. As many as 8.5 lakh farmers have given their Aadhaar, ration card and RTC details out of 21 lakh farmers in commercial Crop loanees in about 10 days.
10. We will complete all genuine farmers by the end of January, 2019
11. The officials have shown great commitment and are working on priority for the expeditious payment within January transparently and achieving successful implementation of the scheme.

The details of district wise release of loan waiver money is enclosed.”

In an attempt to remain in a state of denial, the Modi-led government’s agriculture minister Radhamohan Singh has said in Parliament that it has no data on farmer suicides after 2015.

Radhamohan Singh informed Parliament on Tuesday that the National Crime Records Bureau which publishes such data, has not done it since 2016.

"The National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) under the Ministry of Home Affairs compiles and disseminates information on suicides... These reports on suicides are available up to 2015 on its website. The reports for the year 2016 onwards have not been published yet," the minister said in a written reply.

According to the 2015 NCRB data, the report reveals that over 8,000 farmers committed suicide. Maharashtra tops the list with 3030 suicides, followed by Telangana with 1358 and Karnataka 1197. Over 4500 agricultural labourers have committed suicide. Most suicides were because of debts and bankruptcy, said the report.

Modi Government's Own Data Exposes Farmers' Horrific Plight. So Prime Minister Modi' only believes in 'Fake statics' of his own imaginary figures to blame opposition governments.

But in fact, his own government records no data. No critics.

PM is a big zero in economics. He only talks on the basis of others. It's is the duty of the country to support our farmers who are the backbone of our economy to flourish.
In India's first five year plan ,importance was given to agriculture, and it should be promoted whole heartedly.
Our PM does not recognize the importance of agriculture and farmers are having hell of troubles. It's sad to see all political interference in this matter.
Our politicians don't intend to see anything good done to farmers.

Actually now in company of Raul Vinci, Kumaranna is fast becoming a Fake Data specialist.
The other day, he was in Delhi with begging bowl, today rolls out fake data to counter Modi. Kumaranna, like his father DG is indeed accidental CM. With 37 seats, he rules over K'Nataka. Full on DOMBARATA

Absolutely....He announces in his manifesto & promises loan waiver & despite that his party wins 37 seats only in his strong hold area of Mandya. He & his party is not even been accepted in 3/4th of the state & becomes the CM. Then he expects the entire countries tax payers money from the central government to meet his commitments. What has he contributed? If he is so concerned about the distressed farmers he & his family or his party should shell out from their huge accumulated wealth rather than crying at the of a hat by blaming others for all the personal failures.
