Rahul Gandhi to address Indian Diaspora at Dubai Cricket stadium on Jan 11

Daijiworld Media Network - Dubai

Dubai, Dec 31: As part of his international outreach, Congress president Rahul Gandhi will address Indian expatriates at Dubai International Cricket stadium at sports city in Dubai on January 11.

Himanshu Vyas, secretary of All India Congress Committee said, "During his two-day maiden visit to the UAE, Rahul will address the Indian community at 4pm on the same day at the cricket stadium which has the capacity of 25,000. We have got permission from the authorities and we are expecting a sizeable crowd," reported Gulf News.

“The theme of the stadium event is ‘Gandhi 150 years: The idea of India”. Earlier in the day on January 11, Gandhi will attend a luncheon hosted by Indian Business and Professional Council (IBPC) and is expected to interact with a group of students," Vyas said.

During his visit to Abu Dhabi, Rahul will also visit Shaikh Zayed Mosque, attend a meeting organised by Indian Business and Professional Group and an event organised by India Social and Cultural in the evening.

Dr B R Shetty, chairman of the group said, “We are holding a luncheon meeting in Abu Dhabi for 200 people and also there is a public meeting at ISC in the evening."

Dr Azad Moopen, Chairman & Managing Director of Aster DM Healthcare about Rahul's visit said, “Indians in UAE are looking forward to the imminent visit by Mr Rahul Gandi… Of late, he has become a mature and seasoned politician who is addressing the crucial issues facing the country. His impeccable integrity and highly secular outlook endears him to many, who see him as a future Prime Minsiter of India. He is very well placed to strengthen the strategic relationship between India and UAE nurtured by his father, grandmother and great grandfather who were all past Prime Ministers of India."

It will be the second high-profile visit of Rahul in 37 years. His grandmother and former PM of India Indira Gandhi had visited Dubai in 1981. Other than Dubai, Rahul had earlier visited several countries, including Bahrain, United States, Singapore, and Malaysia and interacted with the Indian Diaspora and met academics and officials of those countries.

The bilateral ties between India and UAE have grown since PM Modi's visits in 2015 and 2018. Rahul Gandhi's visit has been closely watched by Indian expatriates at a time when he has emerged major challenger to current Modi government ahead of 2019 Lok Sabha polls.

Gandhi will be the second Indian leader to attend a community event since August 2015 when Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a packed crowd at the stadium during his official visit.

Why should we have pre-conceived notion on Rahul Gandhi? I agree he has been a buffoon in the past but this year he seems to have rediscovered himself and hardly makes a mistake when talking. I know you will point me to the potato video but i urge you to check the whole video and you will come to know about what he was talking about. In this day and age of whatsapp forwards, truth can get muddied very soon. Hence before we start abusing him, ridiculing him for about 15years just because he happens to be from a very influential family, hear him out in Dubai and then comment about it. Jai Hind.

I am not staunch supporter of Rahulji , but i was thinking that he lacks visionary political leadership. However after watching a great question and answer session in Hindustan times recently, he proved that he is a capable finest political leader with great mission and vision for the country , but I still honesty feel that he has to go a long way.

Today's political matter of concern is that how much a politician promises & what a politician delivers and how much sincere a politician is, towards this great country and finally whether the politician is capable enough to pull everyone including young generation together or not.

Jenifer , In the current scenario, Modi has got admin experience , RaGa has only experience of losing elections. Moreover The recent victories too are not due to RaGa, you know who. It was factors like, anti incumbency , Pilot and Scindia. Moreover Congress being a part of Mahaghatbandan will lose its relevance. There are other takers like CB Naidu, Mayawati, and Mamta B who are very shrewed.

Those who make fun of Rahul have forgotten that three BJP ruled States have come under Congress Rule. Modi may be a good orator but don't underestimate Others.Only giving lecturers and blaming the previous Government will not work in favour of Modi. India is changing. Admires of Modi closed their eyes and cant see beyond this.

Apply for leave and come to India. You should watch Modi's 'Baitho Bhai... Baito..' pleading to the audience who were seen vacating seats from his election campaign. Come over, you will have a lot more of them to see very soon.

When Modi had gone to UAE, the audience (of-course who purchased their entry) were held captive for 20 mins before his arrival, and about to depart the auditorium in Abu Dhabi. Nobody was allowed to enter or exit during these 20 minutes. Why ? Modi feared assassination ?

Well, RG may not be the PM of India but he surely is an important member of political arena. Let the world see how freely he is moving about and mixing with people, without fear of life. Just as his father and grand mother did. Yes, RG will be all welcome to the UAE. That too, not with any pre-self advertisement as Modi did.
