Mangaluru: Khader calls upon youth to support government in beach tourism

Mangaluru, Dec 31: "Although the length of beaches in Kerala and Goa is less as compared to Karnataka, we are lagging behind in the sector of tourism development. Young people should join hands with the government in developing beaches. The district administration has drawn up a plan to develop tourism on the model of home stay and others," said Dakshina Kannada district in-charge minister, U T Khader.

He was speaking at the valedictory function of Beach Festival organized at Panambur beach as part of Dakshina Kannada Karavali Utsav on Sunday December 30. He also said that in order to encourage tourism development, river festival on January 12 and 13, Ullal Utsav and Abbakka Utsav during February first week, have been planned.

On this occasion, Karavali honorary award was conferred on social worker, Prof Hilda Rayappan.

Deputy commissioner of Dakshina Kannada district, Sasikanth Senthil, Beach Utsav Committee president and Mangaluru Urban Development Authority commissioner, Srikanth, Yatish Bykampady of Panambur Beach Tourism Development Project, deputy tahsildar of Nadakacheri Suratkal, Naveen M etc were present.

Additional deputy commissioner, H Kumar, delivered introductory address. Manjula Shetty hosted the programme.

    To support tourism in mangalore?Are there any prilimnary facilitys like proper roads,toilets who visit a beach?Very important is ,till now Govt.was sleeping,now woke up.Proper boarding and lodging without any fear of robbed and raped ,.Kerala is much more making use of such facilities and minting money.with spa ,and many facilities.Proper securities must be there for people visiting .Keepaway moral police control.One should feel safe.It is not youngsters ,but Govt must take some interest and plan with tourism branch.and give youngsters a chance to get jobs.Its not only beaches but historic places,to show them.we have enough of historic places.Good food, good weather,proper mobility plans.

    First develop the narrow pathetic existing single lane into a four lane road along the beach shore for few kilometers at least like may countries and couple of three star hotels and Coffee day, McDonald type of hygienic outlets with clean toilets...., list and warn the moral polices in the vicinity.... our beaches will be run away success and employments to thousands! How much youth can support without such basic facilities????
    Coastal regulation rules could be another big head ache!! Who will pay them??

    This event was organised with no.proper parking . I came this but the parking was 2 kms far ..so went back .
    First repair the panambur beach road .. there are so.many trucks parked
    The beach road should clean with proper parking facilities .
    Remove all petty shop serving un - hygiene food

    I am a thoroughbred Mangalorean. I live behind infosys in Kottara. This is just four km from Panambur beach. Believe me, I have not visited Panambur beach since the last 12 years.
    I have never been to any other beaches around Mangalore as I feel these spots are not safe. There will be hooligans, beggars and lots of miscreants.

    I agree..Yes people are scared to visit beaches even the locals.. even the famous beaches like panambur are not spared
