Daijiworld Media Network – Bengaluru(DC)

Bengaluru, Jan 1: National award winning actor Prakash Raj, also known as Prakash Rai, is all set to enter politics by contesting as an independent candidate in the upcoming 2019 Parliament elections.

Announcing the same, Prakash Raj tweeted, "“HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EVERYONE… a new beginning ... more responsibility… with UR support I will be contesting in the coming parliament elections as an INDEPENDENT CANDIDATE. Details of the constituency soon. Ab ki baar Janatha ki SARKAR #citizensvoice #justasking in parliament too.”

Ever since journalist and his close friend Gauri Lankesh was murdered allegedly by right-wing members, Raj has been vocal about several issues especially criticizing the current Modi government in the centre.

Soon after Raj announced his entry to politics, several netizens replied positively congratulating the actor and wishing him luck in the new phase.

He is the third mainstream actor to enter politics after Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan who also took the political plunge.

As an Indian citizen , you have every right to contest the election and Please have a manifesto for proposed your constituency which shall include what you are promising to the voters of contesting constituency and how you are going to deliver, if it is won.

Please select the most poorly developed constituency, give a fresh life to the people of that constituency and adopt as much as villages as possible for development of the same constituency and restrict your fund for election expenses instead use your personal funds along with election fund for the complete development of the same constituency as a true concerned Indian.

I think people of that constituency will be ever grateful to you and may give you a chance to serve them selflessly.

Naturally, Prakash Raj has to look out for other sources of livelihood, now that none is offering him role, the film producers are backing out, the distributors are taking no chances and the theatre owners are unwilling to take risks.

We should support people like Praksah Raj and defeat corrupt and communal minded candidates of BJP in the forthcoming LS election. Instead of contesting independently Prakash Raj should join JDS.

As expected. Prakash Rai was preparing for this for a long time. We all knew it. Why should he join JDS? As if JDS is full of sincere and hardworking people, with no corrupt people.

I feel those who acted as villains or rapists on silver screen, probably will do a better job as politicians, than heroes like rajnikanth etc. who don't want to make political decisions that affect their fan base.
