Mangaluru: 'CM to hold meeting to rejuvenate Coastal Development Authority' - Ivan

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, Jan 1: "We have already submitted a proposal to the chief minister (CM),H D Kumaraswamy, pleading with him to upgrade Coastal Development Authority and urged him to ensure that the government supports this idea. The CM has promised to hold a detailed meeting on the proposal soon," said MLC Ivan D'Souza.

Ivan agreed that there has been a yawning gap between the original objective behind the setting up the authority and its present functioning. He observed that the authority has not been getting regular grants. "In the legislative council, I had demanded to allot Rs 300 crore for integrated development of coast and to post legislators as members of the authority's board," he stated.

Ivan said that the government's attention has again been drawn towards this issue and the CM has assured to hold meeting of the authority soon to consider proposal to improve its working.

CM should realize that the Karnataka part of the Konkan coast is the only lifeline of the state to the external world, from which millions of tons of goods and materials, especially marble and granite and other heavy items produced in the state are shipped internationally, and tourists from abroad come and spend holidays at beaches.
CM should care about and encourage development of the coastal region at least for the economic dividends that will bring.

Ivan aab is the only hope for Congress now. Rest of them have tried, tested and hav lost badly and also forgotten. Ivan has got good support from JDS as well .This is something what the Congi leaders lack , they are just known among their cadres . So this is where Ivan scores, he is popular amongst both for his good work . We should give him a chance to fight this time, in the LS elections. Fielding someone else will only give Nalin a hat rick or BJP a walkover. Its high time guys.
