Hubballi, Jan 3: Bapuji Vidyaniketan private school in Hubballi has shown that private schools can be run without collecting donation in lacs and school fees in thousands. The school that opened three years ago charges Rs five per day for pre nursery students and Rs seven for LKG and UKG students per day.

The school has nearly 400 students and most of them are poor. All the basic necessities are provided in the school including playground and CCTV camera.

The school is a dream project of Hubballi based teacher Valki Mohammed. The school does not collect any donation.

There are nine teachers in the school. The school fees collected from the children is paid as salary to teachers. Local entrepreneurs donate money to the school. A few teachers from Hubballi and Dharwad come to teach in the school free of charge.

“My family was facing financial constraints when I was studying. Therefore, I had to stop my education half way. I decided then that I must do something for the society. Therefore, we collect only Rs 210 from every student per month. Students get deprived of education because of high fees. We charge Rs 500 during school admissions which are utilized for school uniform and stationery,” said Mohammed.
