27 economic offenders fled India in last 5 yrs, parliament informed

New Delhi, Jan 4 (PTI): Twenty-seven defaulting businessmen and economic offenders have fled the country in the last five years, Parliament was informed on Friday.

Interpol has been approached to issue red corner notices (RCNs) against 20 persons out of these 27, Minister of State for Finance Shiv Pratap Shukla said in a written reply in Lok Sabha.

He further said Interpol has already issued RCN against eight persons who have fled the country and extradition requests have been sent in case of six.

As per the Directorate of Enforcement (ED), applications under Fugitive Economic Offenders Act, 2018 have been filed against seven persons out of these 27, the minister said.

Shukla informed the House that Westminster Magistrates' Court in London has recommended extradition of Vijay Mallya from the UK to India.

The government, he said, has also advised the public sector banks to obtain a certified copy of passport of promoters/directors and other authorised signatories of companies availing loan facilities of more than Rs 50 crore.

    Strange isnt it?
they are running away only after Modi came to power.

Perhaps, before that congress assured them safety in india.
Modi is not giving them any safety.

This figure shows the real picture of Indian economy performing now. Businesses are closing and businessmen are running away from the country with whatever money they have. Economic chaos has peaked in India now and if allowed to continue there will be serious law and order situation to already agitated and anger towards this BJP govt. It doesn't look like BJP has any solution to it but only further worsen the situation. BJP has to go for India to come back to normal economically, politically and socially.

It is the khangress govt which gave loans to most of the offenders who r absconding. It clearly shows MODI govt is taking strict action against them.

During congress rule did any businessman despite taking loan run away with money and left the country which never happened in 70 years of congress rule????. Now the situation has so deteriorated that there is no recovery, no future and no solution but just to run away to save whatever little they have. BJP is so desparate for money that they are making themselves easy to steal money from RBI RESEVE FUNDS from a stooge governor. It has come to that stage. BJP either DO or DIE. Recite your election promises and bring economic offenders and black money back to India.!?!!?!?!?!?...
