Delhi government has introduced new jail manual, HC told

New Delhi, Jan 10 (IANS): The state government on Thursday informed the Delhi High Court that it has introduced a new jail manual which will provide uniformity in rules and regulations in managing prisons in the national capital.

Delhi government standing counsel Rahul Mehra informed a bench of Chief Justice Rajendra Menon and Justice V Kameswar Rao that the new jail manual -- Delhi Prisons Rules, 2018 -- has been notified and came into effect from January 1.

The court, which was hearing various public interest litigations related to ensuring minimum human rights to inmates, asked the petitioners' lawyer to go through the fresh act and inform if they found some issues.
