New Delhi, Jan 11 (IT): Senior Congress leader and former Union Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde has compared Prime Minister Narendra Modi with Adolf Hitler. Shinde said the prime minister is acting like a dictator in the country.
"What else is he (PM Modi) if not Hitler? He is a dictator. He works like [Russian President Vladimir] Putin," Shinde said.
He said this while speaking about the alleged police atrocities against Congress workers in Solapur. The prime minister was in Solapur on Wednesday (January 9) to address a rally.
The Congress has alleged that police beat up some Congress workers who were protesting against the prime minister and released black balloons in the air as a mark of protest.
"Demonstrations have always been held in a democracy but it's a first where it (alleged thrashing of Congress workers) was done after instructing the police to do so," Shinde said, according to news agency ANI.
Taking a dig at Modi, Shinde asked if he [Modi] ever listens to anyone.
"He listens to himself. He sacked CBI director at night. He imposed demonetisation. Isn't this dictatorship? Did he ask anyone? Did he ask finance minister or the RBI governor? No. He just felt like doing it so he did it. This is exactly what dictatorship is," Shinde said.
