Youth suffering from amnesia, commits suicide

New Delhi, Jan 12 (IANS): A youth suffering from depression on account of amnesia committed suicide after hanging himself from a ceiling fan inside his residence at south Delhi, a police officer said on Saturday.

The police said the incident occurred on Friday around 8 p.m in Pushp Vihar sector-1 area, when Anil Guleria went to check his son, identified as Ankush Guleria, in his room and found him hanging with a ceiling fan.

"Anil Guleria raised an alarm and alerted his neighbours who later took him to Max hospital where he was declared brought dead by doctors," a senior police officer told IANS.

"Ankush Guleria was working as a compounder in Sir Ganga Ram Hospital for the last couple of years. He suffered from amnesia which caused acute depression in him," he said.

"No suicide note was found from the spot. He was the lone son in his family. His father works with Central Secretariat as a supervisor," he added.
