Mangaluru: Youth Congress demands DK Lok Sabha seat

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru (SB)

Mangaluru, Jan 14: Youth Congress of the city has sought Dakshina Kannada Lok Sabha seat in the upcoming Lok Sabha election. The district executive committee of Youth Congress met   Sandeep Valmiki, national executive secretary, Youth Congress and in-charge of state Youth Congress on Sunday, January 13 and demanded to consider youths in upcoming elections. Sandeep Valmiki was in the city on a short visit.

“Without a young face it is very difficult to win in Dakshina Kannada constituency. In the last MLA election itself, it was proven that the people of district want young faces, who are more flexible in serving them. Being a young and energetic candidate, only U T Khader succeeded in retaining his seat. Youth Congress had demanded at least two seats in the last assembly elections. But it did not succeed to in getting the same. So it is a golden opportunity for the party leadership to consider a youth candidate for the DK Lok Sabha seat," the petition from block presidents said.

They also suggested Mithun Rai, president, district Youth Congress as the suitable candidate for the party. They expressed confidence in his candidature and assured collective effort for his victory.

They also warned that if youths are neglected in the upcoming elections, congress will fail to attract youths into the party and the members of youth congress will also get demotivated, which will reflect in the election campaign and other party programmes.

In his reply Sandeep Valmiki assured to consider the suggestions of the youth and convey the same to the state and national leadership. Keparaju, vice-president, state Youth Congress and Suhail Kandak briefed about upcoming youth congress programmes.

Mithun Rai, Lukman Bantwal, Suneeth D'Sa, Kiran Budleguttu, Prasad Malli, Lawrence D'Souza, and others district leaders were present.

Mithun Rai and youngsters directly to LS?
Ivan D'Souza, Vijay Kumar Shetty, and the likes will all now have to wait in the sidelines after having spent the best part of their career in politics?

If being young is the criteria, can you please tabulate the age of Siddu, Gowda Super Senior, Senior and Junior, Parameshwara and do not leave Yeddy out.
    Mohiuddin Bava was old?
Well, in all likelihood, we would need a primaries of the likes in US presidential election to win a nomination directly from the electorate it seems in DK this time...!!!

The upcoming Lok Sabha elections are an opportunity for the Congress Party to win Mangalore MP seat after almost a gap of 25 years. But considering the Modi factor and the hindutva mindset that has been strongly established in the district I feel it will be very difficult to Congress to win if these forms of vertical divide continues. Youth Congress demanding or putting a petition for the ticket is justified but threatening the party to work against if not given an opportunity is not acceptable. Let me try and remind these youngsters that most of the leaders that the coastal town has i.e Ramanath Rai, Vinay Kumar Sorake, Pramod Madhwaraj etc have all grown through the party’s cadre to reach where they are today. In addition, if the party faced defeat in the previous elections the youth Congress must also take part of the blame for the defeat. Mithun Rai acted as a rebel within the party which in turn gave bad publicity and wrong message about the party. Hence, I strongly believe that the Congress party must make sure it puts forth a candidate who is able to take forward everyone together with unity.

I beg to differ. The public is tired of minority appeasement that has led to various problems today in the society. Its not Modi wave or Hindutva .Its the Cong who has done this.
    1. Siddu goes to Dharmastala and openly proclaims he has eaten fish prior entry to show that he does not care.
    2. 22 RSS worker killed in state and Siddu has no clue, no arrests made, State Govt blames Kerala and hence out of its jurisdiction.
    3. Ramanath Rai openly claims that what ever he is today, is due to Muslims.
    4. Criminals released under Mugda Alpa sankyatharu scheme.
    5. Sharath Madivala killed in Rais constituency, Rai clueless, does not use his influence but stops Kalladka Bhats school midday meal.
    6. Kasargod youth joining ISIS in hordes. when raided they flee to Mlore .Logistics provided by locals to stay underground. Hence today Mlore is termed as a sleeper cell for terrorists.
...........................and then you say BJP is communal..

Beef is not a crime. Who said its a crime? you have to ask the people or the faction responsible , on
-Why is transporting, selling, done ILLLEGALY? Why do they flee when the cops try to nab them?
So obviously there is something wrong, There is no license. Why is a license not obtained? This is the biggest issue. you want everything easy , illegal and free.
Sorry it should not be allowed.

While you seem to be raising quite a few issues that are relevant, I’d like to ask you as to why the BJP raises these issues only during the elections? After the thumping wins in the recent 2018 Assembly elections inspite in both DK & Udupi districts, the 12 BJP MLA’s (out of 13 MLA’s in both Districts) and 2 MP’s the BJP has done nothing to resolve these issues. Moreover, they don’t even speak about these issues anymore isn’t it clearly opportunistic? Whether a Hindu is Murdered or whether a Muslim is murdered or whether a Christian is murdered, at the end of the day a murder will always remain a crime irrespective of religion. Law & Order should prevail and justice be made. Before the elections there were so many movements Mangalore Chalo etc etc but now? The BJP MLA’s are not to be seen except when they make special appearances once in a while. Brother please understand that religion is way above politics and hence let’s not mix the two! Religion is way more superior and the way I practice it is different to how you do and that my friend doesn’t make me religious that you are the sooner we realise this fact the better it is for Mangalore!

Please note coming Lok Sabha election will be interesting with regards to Mangalore constituency. Congress is thinking it will be a cake walk to win which is. I agree Nalin Kumar Kateel has not done well but Congress leaders particularly our Seniors have not done enough for Majority Community. Till there are many issues and some leaders openly supporting some community and this has irked the Majority community and they want to vote for BJP. Just by saying Secular is not enough. We need to have foresight and during issues have the guts to support which is lacking. This is one of the reason Congress is not abel to make inroads in the last 25 years. I agree there is an anger with Nalin but at the end I feel he will win this election by max 25k margin. Last time he won by 1.5 lakh voters and this will be reduced. For the Congress to win it will be a uphill task. Many will not agree with this and during the last state election my prediction was perfect. I had predicted only Khader will win and it became true. I had done sufficient ground work before saying this. Anyhow time will say. Please note I'm neither a Congress supporter nor BJP nor affiliated to any Religious affinities. I want our constituency to have good development with regards to road, water, better Rail connectivity. I hope Pumpwell and Thokottu flyover is completed at the earliest.

Being a Congress supporter I'm just showing the mirror to the Congress leaders.

Youth Congress or Old Congress. If you do not have answer to BJP's Hindutva you cannot win i Dakshina Kannada.

If Congress says Nalin Kumar is waste. Hindu's says "It really doesn't matter, if Nalin is lazy, uneducated, incompetent. Hindu's will vote for him even if he sleeps at home for five years". Vote is for Hindutva.

    Dear Nithin
You are partially Right . My Vote is for Modi. NOT for the likes of NALIN or Shobha and not so called Hindutva(atleast me). There was a sayig in the past during Indira Era that people will even vote a Donkey if given Congress ticket . It's a kind of same feeling now . Am sure many educated BJP supporters will vote for the sake of Modi, not for some of our useless politicians . It dosent matter who the Congress fields in Undivided DK districts.

Most of the BJP supporters in Mlore constituency got fed up with BJPs fiasco during Yeddi-Reddy tussle and Yogesh Bhat had to pay the price for that.

How can Cong rely on youth. Youth gen have more ideas and rebellious in nation. If Cong rely on youth, their president will be overtaken in popularity. Look what happened in RS, MP. The 2 youth who brought victories to Congress were sidelined. This was to enable RaGa to take the credit and reflect that his career is resurrected. Similarly here, Cong would definitely field Raamu Kakas, like Ramanath Rai , Jannanana, Lobo . Moily etc who have retired or are in the verge of retirement . As these oldies have no future aspirations and just hang on for survival, they will listen to what ever the high command says.

In Rajasthan they made Pilot as DCM . they not gave chance to Scindia cause he is MP and we need at least some youths in loksabha, lets watch now Pilot will become MP from Rajasthan and he will resign DCM, so that they both support RaGa in parliment along with Mithun Rai...

Congress has tested and tried all the senior leaders and were unsuccessful to win the confidence of the people, now they have to try the young blood, maybe they will be successful to draw today's youth to the mainstream politics and can change India for good.. ( This applies to all parties , youth is the future of India )
