Mumbai, Jan 2: Eleven-year-old Vaishnavi Shetty bagged the ‘Pogo Amazing Kids Award – 2008,’ from among several contestants, recently. The contest was organized by ‘Pogo’, a popular children’s TV channel.
Vaishnavi is the daughter of Lakshmi Shetty Kodavoor, and is a student of Class VI at St Theresa’s Convent High School. She has been learning Bharatanatyam under the tutelage of Shivoham Institute of Performing Arts founders Guru Mubina and Nilesh Singha for the past seven years.
Vaishnavi has also learnt classical Carnatic music under the guidance of Music Triangle Pandit Veena Shastry for four years. She is also actively involved in ‘Chinnara Bimba’, a cultural organization striving to promote Tulunadu culture in the metro.
She is the recipient of the Pandit Vishnu Digambar Paluskar Award, first prize winner in All India Bharatanatyam competitions organized by Sharada Sangeet Vidhyalaya, Bandra (East), first prize in Natya Sagar All India competition, organized by Kanakasabha, Chembur, and several other awards for her many talents.
The finals of the Pogo Award, featuring Vaishnavi, was held on December 13 was telecast by Doordarshan on December 28.
