SC grants bail to 4 jailed in Gujarat riots, says 'conviction order debatable'


New Delhi, Jan 23 (DC): Four convicts in the Naroda Patiya case, which describes one of the worst massacres in the 2002 Gujarat riots, have been granted bail by the Supreme Court, which has doubted their conviction.

The convicts, Umeshbhai Bharwad, Rajkumar, Harshad and Prakashbhai Rathod, are serving a 10 year jail term for arson and rioting.

They were convicted by the Gujarat High Court.

    During riots usually police pickup whoever available at the seen, they may be providing drinking water to the victims or helping them to shift to hospital,.. that is the real truth..

    What was the death numbers ....u expected in Gujarat riots....
    Do not forget the toll in Gujarat earth quake of 2001 / 2002 was not less than one lakh

    Actually nobody is responsible for the Gujarat riots. It happened on it's own.
    Nobody can be convicted or punished, everybody will be given a clean chit.

    When congress leader like ehsan jaffari who involved during godra kand...it's utmost right to freed innocents on bail. After all innocents elderly family members of kar sevaks burnt down in godhra for not fault of there's. We wont let turn one more kashmir in any part of the country.
