Mumbai, Jan 10: Aamir Khan-starrer Ghajini has become the first Indian film to gross Rs 200 crores worldwide.
The mark has been achieved by the film in little less than two weeks. The film has grossed Rs 162 crores in domestic market and Rs 39 crores have come from overseas market till the end of second week.
Priti Sahani, senior vice-president of Indian film Company, the all India distributors, said "the movie has appealed to both rural and urban audience. Moreover, we had a wide release with 1,200 prints which was backed by aggressive marketing," she said.
The film is set to take over the mantle of the biggest domestic earner of all times from Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (Rs 165 cr) and Gadar-Ek Prem Katha (Rs 170 cr).
In overseas market, the film is till now second only to Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna which collected Rs 44 crores, he added.
