Mangaluru Jan 28: The public meet of Padayatra from Talapady to Pumpwell by Congress South block and Ullal block against the incompletion of Pumpwell and Thokkottu flyover was held at Pumpwell on Monday, January 28.
Addressing the gathering, district-in-charge minister U T Khader said, "Congress representatives have participated in large numbers in this padayatra, and are raising their voice against the incompletion of work at Pumpwell and Thokkottu flyover. We are inspired by Ramanath Rai to conduct this Padayatra which will definitely make BJP fear us.”
He also said, "BJP have conducted mass convention of Ujjwal scheme which is a failure. Only few beneficiaries from Karnataka have benefitted from this and still 25 lac beneficiaries are waiting for the benefit. Those who did not avail gas connection, Congress have started Anila Bhagya scheme. We are in situation where no one is ready to buy cylinder and refill it for the second time due to hike in price.”
"The recently concluded mass convention of Ujjwal scheme which was a government programme, was converted into a party programme. BJP have took advantage of gas dealers and asked them to provide lunch and install flexes,” said U T Khader.
“MP Nalin Kumar Kateel's contribution to the city is the block occurring at Nanthoor, Pumpwell and Thokkottu. Nalin had threatened officials to get them arrested if work is not done. If they are not capable to work then it is better to suspend them. BJP has no concern for farmers, women and they are in favour of industrialist and businessmen. Earlier the Reliance petrol bunk which was shut down is now being opened after Modi came to power, but our Vijaya Bank is going to shut down. We have to make sure that failures of BJP and their anti-people policies should reach every household. The battle has begun and Congress should turn victorious,” he said.
Former MLA J R Lobo said," it has been 8 years the Pumpwell flyover is still not completed and people are struggling and are facing the consequences. MP Nalin Kumar Kateel is constantly giving dates of completion but has never fulfilled them. Today in this regard we took out padayatra from Talapady to Pumpwell. We have to continue to raise our voices in this regard.”
Former minister Ramanath Rai said," Then chief minister Siddaramaiah has done myriad development works for this region. BJP are gaining votes in the name of religion and Hindutva as they don’t need any development. BJP is a 'U-turn' party as they don’t deliver what they promise. Their contribution is nil. Instead of contributing they are taking away the projects by privatization. Acche din has never come for people; Acche din has come for Nirav Modi, Vijay Mallya and other industrialists."
