Dubai: Kannada theatre veteran C K Gundanna to be conferred Dhwani Sriranga award on Feb 8

Dubai, Feb 3: On the occasion of Precious Parties and Entertainment LLC’s Dhwaniranga Siri Utsava-2019, artiste and founder member of ‘Samudayanatakaglu’ C K Gundanna will be award ‘Dhwani Shriranga International Award’ for the year 2018.

This international award is given in the memory of pioneer of Kannada theatre late Adya Rangacharya. Earlier, B Jayashree, Shrinivas Kappanna, T S Nagabharana, Mukyamantri Chandru, Na Da Shetty, Panditaradya Swamiji, Dr H S Shivaprakash, Umashriand, and Girija Lokesh have been awarded with this prestigious award.

The award will be presented on February 8 at Emirates Theater, Emirates International School Jumeira, Dubai.

Eight-time national film award winning Kannada film director P Sheshadri will be the chief guest of the event. P Sheshadri is the person who carried legacy of aesthetic Kannada films worldwide and pride of Kannada film industry. He has directed of National Award winning films like Munnudi, Athithi, Beru, Tutturi, Vimukti, Bettada Jeeva, Bharat Stores and December 1.

UAE theatre artiste, social activist, and programme organiser Gopika Mayya will be felicitated with Dhwani Puraskara.

On this occasion, Mahakavishudraka’s famous play ‘Mruchchakatika’ (Kannada translation by Dr N S Laxminarayana Bhatta) will be staged by Dhwani amateur artistes. The play is directed by Prakashrao Payyar. The cast includes Arathi Adiga, Vasu Bayar, Prabhakar Kamath, Nagabhushan Kashyap, Gururaj Puttur, Rudrayya Navali Hiremutt, Ashok Anchan, Jayanth Shetty, Adesh Hasana, Sapna Kiran, Mohan, Janet Sequeira, Shobitha Premjith, Saanvi Rakesh Sharma, Venkatesh Rao, Vinayak Hedge, Sandya Ravikumar, Jesh Bayar, Sandeep Devadiga, Harish Poojary, Narasimhan and Shwetha Nadig Sharma.

Music is composed by Arun Carlo, lighting by Arun Manipal, stage design by Ganesh Rai, and play back singers are Ramya Jagirdar, Sai Mallika and Uday Najappa.

All Kannadigas are requested to attend the show in large numbers.
