Bengaluru, Feb 6: The budget session of the legislature will begin on Wednesday February 6. Congress, which faces the possibility of revolt from its legislators, has already issued whip, making it mandatory for them to attend the budget session from February 6 to 15. Unhappy legislators like Ramesh Jarkiholi, Mahesh Kumthalli and Nagendra who have so far kept distance from the party leadership since the last many days, are now facing the compulsion to attend the session or face disqualification.

Kampli MLA, J N Ganesh, who has been absconding since he attacked and injured another MLA, Anand Singh, too is expected to make an appearance in the session. The other Congress legislator, Umesh Jadhav, has assured party leaders that he will be with the party. Leader of the Congress legislature party, Siddaramaiah, has already written to the unhappy legislators, pointing out that they have not replied to the earlier notice. He has asked them to take part in the assembly proceedings and meet him either before the session or during the proceedings at Vidhana Soudha to provide clarification for their absence in the legislature party meeting organized earlier.

The governor is scheduled to address the joint session of the legislature on Wednesday, and the budget would be tabled by the chief minister on Friday. JD(S) does not seem to be facing any revolt within its ranks and as far as this issue is concerned, its leadership appears to be cool and confident.

On Thursday, coalition partners, JD(S) and Congress, have arranged for joint legislature party meeting in order to draw up strategy to counter the plan of the BJP. If this joint meeting does not happen, JD(S) legislature party meeting might happen on Thursday morning. Kumaraswamy said he does not have any confusion or tension as the government is running smoothly and on strong footing. Siddaramaiah said that Operation Lotus has repeatedly failed, and the budget being moved by the chief minister will be passed without any problem. Yeddyurappa has already confirmed that BJP does not intend to move any no confidence motion against the government.
