Mangaluru: Officials begin translation of cases against infamous Ravi Poojary

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, Feb 6: India is busy completing processes needed to hasten handing over process of underworld fugitive, Ravi Poojary, who has been arrested in Senegal, West Africa. The task of translating criminal cases registered against Ravi Poojary in different parts of Karnataka and other states into English and local language of that country is now progressing

Once documents are complete, they would be submitted to Interpol and Indian embassy at Dakar, capital of Senegal, for being handed over to the police department of that country. Sources claim that these things will take a while and therefore it might take several days for Poojary to be brought to India.

The police have got information that a former underworld element had helped Ravi Poojary to get fake passport from Mandya. For this purpose, Ravi had produced an identity card purported to have been issued by the country, Burkina Faso. It has come to light that Ravi Poojary had got several documents prepared in his name which would have enabled him to live in several African nations for a number of years.

Poojary's arrest was published by a number of newspapers in Senegal in the front page. The newspapers there reported that Poojary, who used to call hundreds of people in India including Bollywood stars for protection money, stands arrested with help from the Interpol.

It is said that Ravi Poojary, who is in the custody of Senegal police, is suffering from fever now. The police there reportedly contacted his wife, who too is hiding in an African country but she denied having anything to do with Poojary.

Fugitive Indian gangster Ravi Pujari, known as “the Hindu Don”, is believed to be running a murderous extortion racket from a secret hideout in Australia.
In a series of threatening phone calls to several high profile legal, Bollywood and business identities, the 46-year-old Mumbai-born Pujari has stated that he is living in Australia.
Wanted on charges including murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and illegal possession of firearms, Pujari rose through the ranks of Mumbai’s notorious underworld in the 1990s by targeting the construction and hospitality industries.
Pujari is believed to have cemented his reputation by assassinating a rival gangster named Bala Zalte, and by ordering the killing of a construction executive Om Prakash Kukreja. He is believed to be carrying a forged Australian passport, has managed to evade Indian police since the late 1990s when he fled to Dubai.
High profile Delhi-based lawyer M.S. Khan, who has represented some of India’s most infamous terrorists including the so-called “Indian Osama Bin Laden” Yasin Bhatkal, said on January 16, he received a call on his mobile phone from someone who identified himself as the “underworld Don Ravi Pujari” and who said “he was calling from Australia”.
After reminding Mr. Khan of two lawyers who had recently been gunned down in Bangalore and Mumbai, the caller warned Mr. Khan that unless he stopped defending Bhatkil, his own life would be in danger.
This underworld gangster is wanted in more than 30 cases in Mangaluru alone and has much investment in Australia.
As per the Sydney Morning Herald, Pujari is believed to be hiding in Australia now and has an Australian passport.
Instead of saying this is an arrest, this seems to be a sweet deal of central government to arrange the killing or arrest of Dawood from Pakistan ahead of Lok Sabha elections.
They parted ways after Dawood Ibrahim made an attempt on Rajan’s life in Bangkok, Thailand in 2000.

French is the official language of Senegal. If there are qualified French knowing persons in different states, the cases can be directly translated into French instead of English, save time and money.
