Bengaluru, Feb 7: Unmindful of the political uncertainty over the survival of his government in view of the trouble from disgruntled MLAs belonging to Congress and JD(S) with the opposition BJP trying its best to pull down the coalition regime, Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy is believed to be readying bagful of sops to woo different sections of the people, especially farmers, in the coming Lok Sabha polls in his budget for the year 2019-20 being presented on Friday.

Though BJP is hell-bent on creating problems by exploiting the rift within the ruling coalition partners, Kumaraswamy is said to be quite confident of weathering the storm.

With elections to the Lok Sabha two-three months away, the State budget is expected to offer a lot of succour to the agrairan economy, particularly waiver of the farm loans.

The Chief Minister will table the Congress-JD(S) coalition government’s second budget in the Legislative Assembly on Friday at 12. 30 pm.

Following the Lok Sabha model, the State Government has decided to give copies of the State budget to members of the Legislative Assembly and media persons after completion of the budget speech by Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy on Friday.

The Opposition BJP has strongly opposed the decision irrespective of the Narendra Modi government setting the trend.

The Opposition BJP likely to disrupt the budget speech of the Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy on Friday.

On Wednesday, it disrupted the Governor’s address to joint session of the State legislature, calling the government lacked majority.

With the NDA government doled out direct transfer of Rs 6000 a year for small and marginal farmers, the State budget coalition government would act on the commitment on waive farmer loans. A number of new initiatives are expected to be announced to make farming more profitable.

Projects in rural development, agriculture and social sectors and Bengaluru too are likely to get substantial funds.

The budget for 2019-20 is expected to set aside financial allocations for farm loan waiver, for the benefit of small and marginal farmers, who have been financially hit by successive droughts.

However, the proposed farm loan waiver scheme is expected to tighten the State’s fiscal resources.
