Ladakh to have rotational HQ in Leh, Kargil

Jammu, Feb 15 (IANS): Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik on Friday announced a rotational headquarter for Leh and Kargil districts of the newly granted Ladakh division.

Malik made the announcement after meeting members of the Kargil Coordination Committee that has been spearheading a peaceful protest asking for a rotational headquarter in the Ladakh division.

"Two additional divisional commissioners, one each for Leh and Kargil districts, will be announced shortly.

"The divisional commissioner and the inspector general of police (IGP) will spend half the year in Leh and the rest in Kargil town," Malik announced after his meeting with members of the Kargil Coordination Committee.

The Governor praised the Kargil Coordination Committee for holding peaceful protests to press for their demand, which he said was the democratic right of people.
