Sharjah, Feb 15 (Emirates 247): H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, attended on Thursday the opening of the third edition of the Sharjah GCC Theatre Festival, organised by the Department of Culture, at the Culture Palace, until February 19.
The ruler of Sharjah and the audience watched a documentary which highlighted the cultural and theatrical movement in Sharjah and the Festival’s previous editions.
Five theatre troupes from GCC are vying for several awards for directing, acting and other forms of theatrical display, during the event.
Upon arriva, H.H. was received by Sheikh Salem bin Abdulrahman Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Sharjah Ruler's Office; Rashid Ahmed bin Al Sheikh, Chief of the Sharjah Emiri Court; Major General Saif Al Zari Al Shamsi, Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police; Abdullah Mohammed Al Owais, Chairman of Sharjah Culture Department; Khalid Jassem Al Midfa, Chairman of Commerce and Tourism Development Authority; Ali Salem Al Midfa, Chairman of the Sharjah International Airport Authority; Mohammed Obaid Al Zaabi, Head of Protocol and Hospitality Department; Salem Yousef Al Qaseer, Chairman of Labour Standards Development Authority; Dr. Khaled Omar Al Midfa, Chairman of Sharjah Media City (SHAMS); Ismail Abdullah Al Amin, Secretary-General of the Arab Theatre Authority; several officials and heads of culture departments, a galaxy of Arab and GCC art and theatre stars, and Ahmed Burahima, Director of the Theatre Section at the Culture Department.
