Mumbai, Jan 30: The annual day celebrations of the metro's Ganiga Samaj was held recently at Tamil Sangh auditorium, located at Sion (East).
Tara Bhatkal inaugurated the annual day celebrations by lighting the lamp. Ganiga Samaj president Jagannat M Ganiga presided over the programme.
Karnataka divisional forest officer G P Prabhakar was the chief guest of the function. Addressing those present, Prabhakar said that attachment to his / her community is very essential along with developing good relationship with the society in general. This metropolitan city here is known for bringing the best out of every community. Ganiga community should try to excel in every field. This achievement will bring honour to the community and will remain forever, he asserted.
Malleshwaram 'Hotel Hallimane' proprietor N Sanjeev Rao, M Gopalakrishna of Bangalore Venugopalakrishna Credit Co-Operative Society, Dakshina Kannada district Soma Kshatriya Samaj Barkoor president K Gopal, metro's Ganiga Samaj former president Krishna R Ganiga, Vidyodaya Samiti president Vijayendra Ganiga, Tara Bhatkal, PogoImaging Kids award recipient Vaishnavi Shetty and others were the guests of honour.
Scholarships to talented community students and prizes to the winners of various competitions were distributed on the occasion.
Ganiga Samaj founder president Nagesh Balimani, Ratna Sanjeev Rao, Sumitra Krishna Ganiga, Vasanti Gopal and others honoured Karnataka Forest Officer G P Prabhakar, Krishna R Ganiga and Vaishnavi Shetty.
Vice presidents Kutpady Ramachandra Ganiga and Baskar M Ganiga, treasurer Chandrashekar R Ganiga, K M Shekar, Madhav Ganiga, Balakrishna Tonse, Vinay V Ganiga, Usha V Rao, Uday Ganiga and Sridar Ganiga honoured the guests by presenting them with flower bouquets.
U Balachandra welcomed the gathering. Jagdish Ganiga proposed vote of thanks. Chief secretary B V Rao compered the programme.
Bharatanatyam performance by Vaishnavi Shetty, Spandana S Rao and Sahana Rao Shigganv and dance recital by Shuba G Kutpady and Suma R Kutpady were held as part of entertainment programme.
