Bentley car rams auto, Turkmenistan woman killed

New Delhi, Feb 19 (IANS): A woman from Turkmenistan was killed and three others suffered serious injuries after a speeding Bentley car rammed the auto rickshaw they were travelling in at Vinay Marg, a high-security area in Central Delhi's Chanakyapuri area, on Monday, the police said.

The driver of the Bentley, identified as Asees Singh Chadha, 19, was caught by the people and handed over to the police. He is nephew of liquor baron Ponty Chadha who was killed in 2012. He had two policemen from Punjab following him in an escort vehicle as security, the police said.

A motorist informed the police about the accident at about 1.45 p.m. When the police reached the spot, they found the car and the auto rickshaw in tatters following the accident.

"The passengers of the auto rickshaw were taken to a nearby hospital where Gulshat Alijanova, the Turkmenistan national, succumbed to injuries. The injured have been identified as Alma Gul Atayeba and Gulia Yyam, both from Turkmenistan, and Raghubir Singh, driver of the auto rickshaw. The Turkmenistan nationals were in India on tourist visa," said Madhur Verma, Deputy Commissioner of Police.

Asees, son of Rajender Singh Chadha, stays in a farmhouse in south Delhi's Mehrauli area.
