Kundapur: Unidentified vehicle flees after crushing bike rider to death

Kundapur, Feb 19: A motor bike rider was turned into pulp after an unidentified vehicle hit his vehicle on Arate Bridge in the taluk. The accident happened in the wee hours of Tuesday February 19.

The deceased has been identified as Vikhyath (24), son of Ganesh, resident of Bavikatte near Gangolli.

The accident happened on Arate Bridge. The severity of the accident could be gauged by the fact that the body of the bike rider was turned into a mass of bone and flesh which got deposited on the bridge. The vehicle then dragged the motor bike for about two kilometers till Hemmady. The vehicle escaped without stopping thereafter, and the police are trying to establish its identity.

Police personnel from Gangolli station visited the spot and registered a hit-and-run case. The mortal remains of the youth which were lying in an orphaned state were carried to the hospital with help from police personnel.

The deceased youth was working for a hotel in the town. The estimated time of the accident is believed to be around 12.30 am.

    May his soul rest in peace..It's heart breaking to see that many lives are lost due to the accidents in DK. Traffic Police must exert extra efforts to punish the Rash drivers.
