Bengaluru, Feb 19: It is learnt that Congress leaders have decided against supporting the candidature of cine actor, Prakash Rai, in the Lok Sabha election. Rai has planned to enter the election fry from the city (central) constituency as an independent candidate.
Prakash Rai, who has already started election campaign, had met Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president, Dinesh Gundu Rao, and requested him to support his candidature for defeating BJP. However, Congress has taken a conscious decision not to support any independent candidates in the coming Lok Sabha election.
Congress party has several leaders who are desirous of fighting election from this constituency. Important among them are MLCs, Rizwan Harshad and Saleem Ahmed, and Rajya Sabha member, B K Hariprasad.
