New Delhi, Feb 20 (IT): India's fastest train Vande Bharat Express has run into quite a few hurdles in its smooth running since the train was launched.
On Wednesday, stones were pelted on Vande Bharat Express near Tundla in Uttar Pradesh as the train was going towards Kanpur from New Delhi. One window glass of the train was damaged in the incident.
This is the third time when stone were pelted on Vande Bharat Express since its inception. The first time stones were thrown at the train was on December 20 last year and again it occurred on February 2 this year.
The Vande Bharat Express formerly known as the Train 18, was flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 15.
After the Vande Bharat Express hit a snag on its first run, Congress president Rahul Gandhi not only attacked the Make in India campaign but also mocked Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
"Modi ji, I think Make in India needs a serious rethink. Most people feel it has failed. I assure you we in the Congress are thinking very deeply about how it will be done," Gandhi said.
Retaliating strongly to Gandhi's jibe, Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal said it is a shame that Gandhi chose to attack the "hard work and ingenuity" of Indian engineers, technicians, and labourers.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday (february 19) hit back at opposition leaders for "targeting and mocking" semi-high speed train Vande Bharat Express, terming it an an "insult" to engineers and technicians.
"Some persons targeting and mocking at semi-high speed train. This is unfortunate. This is an insult to engineers and technicians involved in the project. People should remain alert against such persons who are insulting engineers and technicians and mocking the country," the PM said while addressing a public meeting.
