Bengaluru, Feb 22: The state high court (HC), on Thursday February 21, dismissed a case alleging violation of election code of conduct filed against Karkala MLA, V Sunil Kumar.

Kumar had been accused of providing food for those who took part in a rally organized in his favour during the 2018 assembly election in a temple.

Sunil Kumar had approached the high court, seeking to quash the first information report registered against him. A single judge bench of the HC presided over by Justice Arvind Kumar, which heard the petition filed by the MLA, upheld it and passed an order dismissing the first information report registered against him in Karkala police station.

With this, the hearing undertaken in the case at Karkala magistrate's court against Sunil Kumar also stands dropped.
