Bengaluru, Feb 23: On the third day of Aero India 2019 at Yelahanka Air Base here, Indian army soldiers demonstrated their skills.
On Friday, February 22, the Yakovlevs, a U K based aerobatic team flying Russian designed Yakovlev aircrafts, performed aerobatic maneuvers. Indian Air Force Dhruv choppers performed aerobatic maneuvers as part of Sarang, a helicopter display team, flying over models of Akash, surface-to-air missile.
The Indian companies are outshining foreign vendors at Aero India with a slew of announcements and large display areas.
Hermes 900 UAV, a plane by the Adani Group – the latest big company to enter the defence and aerospace sector will be showcased at the show which is on till Sunday. The plane is being made at its Hyderabad facility but the customer is the Israeli armed forces and an undisclosed Southeast Asian country.
Tata Aerospace and Defence too is displaying the parts it makes for the Pilatus PC 12 plane as well as the cabin for the Sikorsky S 92 chopper at the show.
Union Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Civil Aviation Minister Suresh Prabhu, Navy Chief Admiral Sunil Lanba, Army Chief Gen Bipin Singh Rawat and Air Chief Marshal B S Dhanoa inaugurated the 12th edition of AERO India 2019 at Yelahanka airbase in Bengaluru on February 20.
