Virat Kohli: We will go by what government and BCCI decide

Vishakhapatnam, Feb 23 (IT): India captain Virat Kohli broke his silence on the issue of playing Pakistan in the ICC World Cup after he was quizzed on the topic at the press conference ahead of the T20I series against Australia on Saturday.

Kohli reiterated the sentiments of coach Ravi Shastri and said that the team will comply with whatever the Indian government and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) decides.

"Our sincere condolences to the families of CRPF soldiers who lost their lives in Pulwama attack. We stand by what the nation wants to do and what the BCCI decides to do. We will go by what the government and the Board decides, we will respect that," Kohli said at the presser.

Team India coach Ravi Shastri on Friday also weighed in on the controversy surrounding the future of the match which is scheduled for June 16.

Shastri also said that he will accept the decision taken by BCCI and the Government about playing the match or not. Shastri went os far as to even say that the Indian cricket team will not play the 2019 World Cup entirely if the Indian Government asks them not to.

"It's entirely left to the BCCI and the government. They know exactly what is happening and they will take a call. We will go by what they decide. If the government says it's that sensitive you do not need to play the World Cup, I will go by my government," Ravi Shastri was quoted as saying by Times Now.

The India-Pakistan matter has divided the Indian cricketing fraternity with prominent names differing on what should India's stance be whether to [play or not play Pakistan in the 2019 World Cup.

Sachin Tendulkar on Friday agreed with Sunil Gavaskar and said that he would "hate" to see India concede two points to Pakistan by not playing.

"India has always come up trumps against Pakistan in the World Cup. Time to beat them once again. Would personally hate to give them two points and help them in the tournament," said Tendulkar in a statement.

    Then why are Indians & Pakistani working in one companies in GCC & other countries .

    Arnab Goswami is known for his insane rant on fake nationalism and insulting anyone who doesn’t agree with him. But the controversial TV anchor crossed limits on Friday when he decided to insult legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar. This is because Sachin, deemed as the God of cricket in India, had said that India should not pull out of the World Cup match against Pakistan in this year’s World Cup in light of the Pulwama terror attack.
    Using the hashtag #ShameOnAntiNationals, Goswami launched a blistering attack on Sachin, who has been conferred with the highest civilian honor Bharat Ratna for his contribution to the game. Goswami said, “I don’t believe in any Gods. Sachin Tendulkar is 100 percent wrong. Sachin Tendulkar, if he has any sense, he should realize that he should be the first person to say that don’t play with Pakistan. Sunil Gavaskar should be the second person to say that don’t play with Pakistan. These people say that we need two points. Both are damn wrong. We don’t need two points. I want revenge for my martyrs. Sachin Tendulkar can take his two points and put it in the dustbin.”

    Republic TV founder Goswami crosses limits insulting 'Bharat Ratna' and the legend of the Indian Cricket. But Indian captain Virat Kohli has no regret neither any denials.

    ICC has already warned BCCI if India Boycott World Cup Match With Pakistan. The boycott will only make the Indian Television channels lose who fight for telecast rights. The whole sports industry depended on cricket will be left hunger.
    The foolish decision of 'Modi Bhakta' and warmongering paid television channels had cost for denial of visas to Pakistani shooters in the Delhi World Cup has jeopardized India's chances of hosting the 'Olympics' or any global event with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) suspending all such discussions with the country and recommending that no big tournament be awarded to it.
