Bengaluru, Feb 24: BJP’s core committee leaders have told BJP national president Amit Shah to seriously consider the anti-incumbency factor working against the current MPs.

Even though BJP Karnataka president B S Yeddyurappa is said to have promised the sitting MPs tickets for the upcoming polls, Amit Shah heard opposition from BJP’s office bearers and leaders when he held meetings in Bengaluru on February 21, Thursday.

The leaders suggested a survey before finalizing the candidate. They also informed Shah on the social media campaigns that have been launched against few MPs and also to field strong candidates in Chikkodi, Ballari, Chitradurga, Tumakuru, Chikkaballapura and Kolar.

According to party sources, there is opposition within the party to give tickets to sitting MPs of Udupi-Chikamagaluru, Dakshina Kannada, Uttara Kannada, Belagavi, Vijayapura, Mysuru and Hubballi-Dharwad. While it’s alleged that some MPs hardly visited the constituency nor bothered about its development, others are said to be in bitter terms with party workers.

Shah who took a detailed report from the BJP leaders on the ground situation in 28 Lok Sabha constituencies and the 17 which BJP won in 2014, assured to select candidates based on field survey and consider the winnability and popularity factor of the candidate.
