New Delhi, Feb 25 (IT): Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati asked if Prime Minister Narendra Modi's holy dip in the Ganga river will wash away his sins of "poll promises, treachery and other wrong doings".
"Will a 'SHAHI' dip in Sangam by PM Modi be able to wash sins of reneging poll promises, treachery and other state wrongs?," Mayawati asked on Twitter, a day after PM Narendra Modi visited Prayagraj to participate in the Kumbh Mela.
On Sunday, PM Modi visited Prayagraj and took a dip at the "sangam" or the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati rivers.
It is believed that taking a holy dip at the meeting point, also known as "shahi snann", washes away all the sins a person commits in his/her lifetime.
BSP chief Mayawati said people will not forgive the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led government at the Centre for its "authoritarian rule".
"[It is] not possible for people to forgive BJP easily for making their life miserable through deeds of Notebandi, GST, Vengeance, Casteism, Communal and Authoritarian rule," Mayawati said in her tweet.
Mayawati also criticised PM Modi over the Centre's Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme. She said the Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme of giving Rs 500 per month to famers "maybe useful for labourers but not helpful for farmers who wants remunerative price of their produce which BJP govt has failed to ensure".
"Modi govt should differentiate between farmers and landless labourers, his Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme of Rs 500 per month may be useful for labourers but not helpful for farmers who wants remunerative price of their produce which BJP govt has failed to ensure. This is a failure," she said.
