Denied CM post thrice because I am Dalit: DCM G Parameshwara

Bengaluru, Feb 25(PTI): Alleging that there were attempts by some in the Congress to block the rise of Dalit leaders, Deputy Chief Minister G Parameshwara Sunday claimed that he has thrice been denied the chief ministerial post, as he belonged to the community.

Speaking at a programme in Davangere, Parameshwara, a Dalit, said, Basavalingappa missed the chief ministerial post and so did K H Ranganath.

Parameshwara, a senior Congress leader, said, “ My elder brother Mallikarjuna Kharge also could not become the chief minister.. I missed it thrice.. Some how after much dilemma they made me the deputy chief minister.” Parameshwara alleged that some people wanted to suppress him politically.

Senior Congress leader and former CM Siddaramaiah denied Parameshwara’s allegation and insisted that the Congress has done the most for the Dalit community.

“It’s the Congress party which is taking care of Dalits and other neglected sections of society. I don’t know in what context he made a statement like that, it’s better you ask him,” Siddaramaiah was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.

The Congress and the JD(S) are part of an alliance in Karnataka with JD(S) leader Kumaraswamy occupying the CM’s chair and Parameshwara his deputy.

    True... What makes him think that he is CM material?? Perhaps this is the only country in the world where people fight to be backwards. We have a CM claiming to be mannina maga. With that title his father became the PM with absolutely no support base except for a small pocket in Karnataka. Son becomes the CM 3 times with less than 1/9th seats. And then we have this man instead of being contented become a Deputy bcs he is dalit & he is cribbing.

    If INC made farmers the land owners from the clutches of Land owners ( Zamindars) is somewhat like abolishion of slavery system.
    Then farmers could study, choose their career opportunities. Education percentage improved like never before.
    Through this accusations of castes exploitation is put to rest permanently! Some elements in the society are always provoking on caste lines!
    But in land owners excercise, unfortunately some Zamindars condition became worst than former tenants!

    Sooner Parma kicked out from Congress is better than total disaster in LS election!!!! He is another ungrateful SM Krishna!!! First of all what is his contribution to the party???? In 2013 as the KPCC President he could not win his own seat. Why the Dalits have shown him the door???? In 2018, again as KPCC head he could not able to give simple majority to the party. Then, in what basis he is claiming the top post??? Being a Dalit does anybody get the rights automatically even though he/she is incapable ???? Parma is most incapable even for the post of DCM!!!!!

    just because one is a dalit where is it written that you are fit to be CM. one should be capable and powerfull in keeping the flock together. this fellow is DyCM only because he is a dalit, maybe he forgot that.
