SC junks PIL for probe into larger conspiracy behind Uri, Pulwama

New Delhi, Feb 25 (IANS): The Supreme Court on Monday declined to entertain a PIL seeking probe into the larger conspiracy, including the role of Indian citizens, behind the Uri and Pulwama terror attacks resulting in the killings of a large number of security personnel.

"We are not inclined to entertain the present writ petition. The writ petition is accordingly dismissed," said the bench of Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi and Justice Sanjiv Khanna as lawyer J.P. Dhanda appearing for PIL petitioner Vineet Dhanda urged the court to inquire the "role of Indian citizens as it can't be the job of an individual terrorist".

The PIL petitioner had sought direction to the Centre to constitute a commission headed by a retired top court justice to inquire into the larger conspiracy.

Referring to the statements of Hurriyat leaders in J&K "provoking" the youth, Dhanda said that it could not be only an individual's job to collect huge quantities of explosives and plan such operations.
