Mangaluru: Traffic awareness programme held at Padua College

Mangaluru, Feb 26: An awareness programme on traffic rules and violations for degree students was held at Padua College auditorium on Tuesday, February 26.

The programme was organised by Padua College of Commerce and Management Eco Club and Human Rights Club in association with Mangaluru City Police, Mangaluru Traffic Wardens and JCI Mangalore (Lalbagh).

Chief traffic warden Joe Gonsalves, deputy chief wardens Roshan Patrao, Mohammed and Hussain, assistant sub-inspector traffic east police station Hareesh Chandra R, Gajendra from Mangaluru city police, Padua Degree College principal Fr Alwyn Serrao, vice principal Roshan Santhumayor, Eco Club coordinator and JCI Mangaluru (Lalbagh) president Deenath D’Sa, and Human Rights Club coordinator Sridhar were present.

Traffic wardens Mohammed and Hussain were recognised and felicitated for their social service during the peak traffic hours. Roshan Patrao and Hareesh Chandra delivered awareness talks to the students.

    as long as there is corrupt traffic police,
    nothing is going to stop.

    This is very much appreciable. If the authorities had made a lecture compulsory to all aspirants of Driving License, our traffic flow could have been a bit easier. Yes, there is a theory test but training for this is minimal. The instructor explains the signs and that's all. There is no 'Give-Way', no priority to a specific side, no stopping at 'T' - its like cattle. You enter the junction with your snout, thereafter its your right of way.

    The 'Test' for driving license is even more appalling. If the contender knows to move the vehicle, done ! How will there be discipline on roads ?

    Horrible !
